Pandora. A project examing the process of reduction and shifts in meaning. The end form was a process leaflet that reversed initial reductive process as one makes way through it. The initial reduction took place through the deconstruction of a seventeenth century painting from Nicolas Régnier depicting Pandora and her opening of the jar. The actual painting went through a reductive process that eventually left only hints of Pandora and the actual act of opening the Jar. The intention here was to examine isolation, reduction and focus and how this simplifying process can actually lead to shifts in meaning and complexity.
