Nothing, yet everything. Kenya Hara invites designers and communicators to explore a notion he frequently refers to as emptiness. He feels that in an often excessive world of global branding and communication, perhaps we could learn something from some moments of restraint. Our communication efforts often do little to stimulate or engage in any sort of information exchange. Advertising is geared for the lowest common denominator. Messaging needs to function in thirty seconds or less. He posits that we can facilitate a conversation and exchange in graphic design by creating design that acts as a vessel for that communication to take place. Emptiness. This project is a leaflet that on one side, houses some of these thoughts on the empty vessel and on the other side, provides one such vessel to contemplate.
